Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What kind of experience does the child have to have to play?

A: We welcome and encourage children of all ages and skills to join us. We do not require prior experience to join our league.

Q: What equipment does my child need
?

A: Your child will need a glove, a baseball bat, a pair of baseball pants for practice, baseball cleats (only molded/rubber cleats are allowed), and a baseball helmet. For guidance on which bat to purchase, we recommend waiting to speak with your coach, who can advise you on the best option.

Q: What is your refund\cancellation policy?

A:Our refund\cancellation policy is as follows:
    - 100% refund before the draft
    - 50% refund after draft, but before practices begin
    - 25% after practices begin, but before first game
    - 0% after first game

Q: What are the practice and game days for the divisions?

A: Typically, divisions have practice twice a week with game days being on Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays; depending on the division. The total commitment for games and practices is 4 days a week, which will include one day for batting practice. The 4U division commitment is only 3 times per week. All scheduling will be provided to you once the season starts either by coaches or via our website.

Q: Where do we play games?

A: For divisions beginning with 4U T-Ball through 10U, all games are played at Pembroke Shores Park and Flamingo Park. However, if your child plays 12U or 14U, they may travel to other local parks as those divisions play inter-league games.

Pembroke Shores - Park Map
    T-Ball thru 10U - Fields 1 - 4
    12U and Up - Fields 5 - 8

Note: Our 4U, 6U, 8U, & 10U Divisions play inter-league with Pembroke Lakes Optimist, meaning that a few of the regular season games will be played at Flamingo Park.

Q: What is the non-resident impact fee?

A: The City of Pembroke Pines allows its residents to participate in these programs and use the facilities at minimal cost since they already pay taxes to maintain them. Non-residents do not pay these taxes, so the city collects an impact fee from them to help cover the costs. If you own a business in Pembroke Pines, your impact fee can be waived if you can prove ownership. The city verifies residency address by address, and if you are not a resident, the city will charge our program, and we will pass that charge on to you.

Q: During the registration process, I am being asked for age verification for my child. How can I get this done?

A: Please scan and email [email protected] a copy of your child’s birth certificate and we will override the limitation once it has been verified.

Q: Can my child be moved up in age group?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot arbitrarily move players up or down. The league is governed by the Optimist program and the City of Pembroke Pines, who defines the rules on what divisions a child is placed on based on age.

Q: Can friends be placed on the same team?

A: We make an effort to accommodate requests for the same team in the age groups of 4U and 6U but we cannot guarantee it. The older divisions go through a selection process (a draft). In these divisions, the coaches can freeze 4 players and have to draft the rest. This means that we do not accommodate any requests for same teams in those divisions.

Q: Does concession accept credit cards?

A: No, credit cards are not accepted at concession. Cash and Zelle are the accepted forms of payment (instructions for Zelle are displayed onsite).

Q: Can my child play in the Cobras baseball travel program?

A: We encourage all our recreational players to aim for our travel program. However, selection for the travel program is based on the individual needs of the coaches. Keep an eye out for tryout announcements for each of our travel divisions when slots become available.

Q: How can I stay up to date with park-related events, schedules, closures, etc?

A: We have several ways to keep you up-to-date with what’s happening at our park. The best place to start is our website. For real-time alerts, follow us on social media:
